SP Production Proven Compression Interconnect

Ardent Concepts Contactors and Interconnect interfaces are based on our proprietary wire-form contact, the SP. This technology is capable of GHz level performance at every pitch available (down to .3mm). The SP is ideal for high performance compression interconnect for many package and board designs. Test socket and high speed connectors designs for tight pitch area array and high-node count requirements are available, and we can help you to design and build your own using SP technology.

SP interconnect technology was born of a simple concept; What if we could eliminate the barrel and the plunger from a traditional “pogo” style spring pin and make the spring inside behave like an electrical contact instead of behaving like an inductor?

The key to keeping it simple? The patented “wipe action” of the coils. Instead of behaving like an inductor, the wire-form “shorts” and behaves like a solid element. This concept allows us to design systems capable of up to 37GHz @ < -1dB. The result is an exceptionally clean AC performance in an exceptionally simple mechanical connector design.

That was over 10 years ago. Since then, SP has been designed as a drop-in replacement for high performance pogo pin connectors and sockets for many of the most advanced technology firms in the world.

The SP is available in a variety of pitch and height configurations. We will work with you on your custom design applications, provide sample contacts, and help you to determine the best contact size and pitch for your particular compliant interconnect requirement.
